FRATELLI BERLUCCHI
FRANCIACORTA
Fratelli Berlucchi have 70 hectares, and are the largest privately owned estate of the Franciacorta appellation. Unlike some of the better known labels, Fratelli Berlucchi use only their own grapes.
The vines, aged between 10 and 50 years, are 220m above sea level, and are planted on calcareous morainic soils. The principal varietals are Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco, but they also have Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon for their still wines.
It is a particularity of the house that – with the exception of their introductory-level, 100% Chardonnay Brut 25 from young vines – all their Spumantes are vintage wines, produce of a single harvest.
The Freccianera Franciacorta Brut Millesimato is 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Bianco and 10% Pinot Nero. Freccianera Franciacorta Brut Rosé Millesimato is 60% Pinot Nero (30% vinified as rosé) and 40% Chardonnay.
The vintage wines are aged for at least thirty months in bottle before disgorgement.
