CHÂTEAU LA TOUR DE BY
MĖDOC
This great property is now run by two of the late Marc Pagès’s grandsons, Frédéric Le Clerc (ex Ecole Polytechnique) and Benjamin Richer des Forges. They are very capable.
A further 12 hectares of superb land were purchased to add to the 55 hectares. The average age of the vines is well over 40 years. An impressive temperature-controlled storage cellar has been built and they are in the process of building a totally new temperature-controlled chai. The blend comprises 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It is fermented in traditional wooden vats in a temperature-controlled chai, with a 4-week cuvaison. The wine is aged for 16 months in new to 3-year-old barriques.
Château Cailloux de By is a blend of 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-year- old vines. It is made in the same classic style as La Tour de By but the higher percentage of Merlot delivers a more forward, juicy wine designed for early drinking.
